about

Not even a month after my latest album, I present to you "Midnight Here We Come", my first album that's not electronic or ambient or synth or drone or whatever, but rather a blend of many jazz subgenres.

A few important things to note here :

- I did NOT plan on making an album like that in the first place. I was done with "Epilogue of a Doomed World" and was quite happy to see it boosted my listeners on Spotify by almost 40%. But then, in the morning of January 10th, for some unknown reason, I booted up my working station, and for the first time in almost 4 years of making music, I left electronic for this sort of customized-Jazz that suddenly came out of my hands, pouring down the keyboard as I let these new rhythms and melodies unfold. From January 10th to January 24th, I was in this situation when too many ideas want to come out at the same time (this shows a lot on the 4th track, but I'll come back to that later), the greatest 2 weeks of my life, musically speaking.

- I don't usually listen to jazz, even tho I quite enjoy the genre. I'll even tell you the last true jazz album I listened to was many months ago, so I went in with only a general feeling of what this brand of jazz that I wanted to do was, and I kept it that way as to not be influenced by already-existing material, and I think that going in blind was the best thing I could've done.

- I'm unsure if I'll continue doing jazz in the future. Listening to this, you'll probably come to the same conclusion as me that this is my most mature and accomplished album yet.... Yet I feel like I can do so much more... I might experiment with other genres in this year of 2022, as long as I keep having fun with it I'll go for it any time of the day!

TRACKLIST :

1) It Takes a Sunset (6:07)

The Intro track is actually the last one that I made, there used to be another track in place of it that was called "Outside Number Five", but it was wayyy too energetic and maybe just a bit repetitive to start off the album, so I ditched it (might add it as a bonus track idk) and made this slowly unfolding jazz-noir intro, I really like the mood it creates and I'm happy of this last-minute change.

2) Midnight Here We Come (5:35)

The title track, and the first one I made, on January 10th. Starting off with a Cool Jazz section, it slows down to a more orchestral part where I make full use of my new favorite toy : horns. The end of the track is part of the reason why I kept working on this album clear of any influences.

3) The Twelfth Circle (9:58)

If there's one that is going to end in a late-night/sleeping playlist, that's this one for sure. The longest track of the album is also a smooth film noir theme that takes its time, there are no crazy impros or crazy riffs, but an atmosphere that tries to replicate as good as possible this "dead of the night" feeling.

4) Late-Night Fever Dream (6:37)

Told you we'd come back to this one. This track only exists because of a thought I had that essentially was "How much different themes can I put in one track?". From the chaotic intro to the almost hip-hoppy central theme to the subdued flute solo and the epic end, this track is all over the place, like a fever dream that makes no sense at all.

5) Like Silver Bullets (6:03)

There are two ways to end the night, peacefully or chaotically.
This is the peaceful ending...
...but it's never entirely peaceful, isn't it?

6) Still Drunk at Dawn (7:13)

There are two ways to end the night, peacefully or chaotically.
This is the chaotic ending...
...but it's never entirely chaotic, isn't it?

The stars are vanishing and the first sunrays are piercing through the curtains, so I must leave, but I'd like to thank you all for the support over the years. I have a few dedicated people who have been following me since the beginning and I couldn't thank them all enough...

Much love <3
